Getting started
Does it need a TrackIR device?
No. HeadTrackSC replaces the device entirely. It presents itself to the game as TrackIR, so you enable head tracking in Star Citizen exactly as you would with the real hardware. There is no IR clip, no reflective markers, and no extra USB device.
What do I need to run it?
Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit), any webcam (720p or better recommended), a reasonably lit room facing the camera, and Star Citizen with head tracking (TrackIR) enabled. A DirectX 12 / DirectML-capable GPU gives the fastest tracking, but there is an automatic software fallback for machines without one.
How do I set it up the first time?
Install and run HeadTrackSC, pick your webcam, and press Start. Enable head tracking (TrackIR) once in the Star Citizen options. Run the click-dot calibration to map your comfortable range, then press F9 to recenter whenever you settle into your seat. The in-app Help covers each step.
Do I need to install drivers or create an account?
No drivers and no account. The installer is per-user and does not require administrator rights. There is no setup wizard maze and nothing to register.
Calibration & tuning
How does calibration work?
You look at a few on-screen dots and click. HeadTrackSC maps your comfortable range of motion, including separate up and down (and left and right) sensitivity, so a small real-world turn maps to a full look in-game. Your calibration is saved and reloaded automatically.
My view drifts or feels jittery. What do I adjust?
Increase smoothing to calm the view at rest, and use the dead zone so tiny movements near center are ignored. If the view ever snaps, keep anti-jump protection on. For long-range shooting, the optional Stable Movement Path mode keeps your aim planted instead of drifting.
What is the Stable Movement Path mode?
An optional aim-steadying mode that keeps your view planted on target instead of drifting, for confident long-range shots. You can toggle it on or off and dial in how strong it feels.
What is the wink-to-steady-aim feature?
Closing one eye holds the steady-aim key (Left-Shift) for you while you look down sights. It is completely optional and configurable: enable or disable it, choose whether it fires only while aiming down sights or any time, and set ADS detection to hold-right-mouse or toggle.
How do I recenter my view?
Press F9 at any time to re-zero your view to wherever you are looking. It works while the game holds keyboard focus, so you can recenter without alt-tabbing.
Webcam & performance
How good does my webcam and lighting need to be?
A normal 720p or 1080p webcam in a reasonably lit room works well. Even, steady lighting on your face and a camera mounted near the top center of your monitor give the best results. Avoid strong backlighting from a window behind you.
Is it fast enough to feel instant?
Yes. It runs on your GPU for low-latency tracking with response around 16 ms, and falls back to software mode on machines without a compatible GPU. Smoothing adds no perceptible lag and there is no swimming.
Will it slow down my game?
HeadTrackSC is designed to run quietly alongside the game. GPU-accelerated tracking is lightweight, and the software fallback exists for systems that need it.
Compatibility
Will it work with other TrackIR games?
HeadTrackSC outputs standard TrackIR / FreeTrack data, so it is compatible with other titles that support those protocols. It is built and tuned specifically for Star Citizen, so that is where it is at its best.
Does it work alongside a real TrackIR unit?
HeadTrackSC presents itself to the game as the TrackIR device. Use one or the other � there is no need to run a hardware tracker at the same time.
Privacy
Is my camera footage uploaded anywhere?
No. All processing happens locally on your PC. Your camera feed never leaves the machine and nothing is sent to any server. There is no cloud component.

How is it licensed?
A one-time purchase activates HeadTrackSC on your machine. No subscription and no recurring fees.
What does the launch price include?

Do I get updates?
Yes. Free updates are included within the current version.
Windows warns about the installer. Is it safe?
HeadTrackSC is signed with a Microsoft Artifact Signing certificate � the publisher shows as ITITSOLUTION SOFTWARE LLC. Windows may show a SmartScreen prompt on first run asking you to confirm the publisher; click the publisher name to verify it matches, then proceed. You can also verify the download against the SHA256 checksum published on the pricing section. The prompt appears less often as more people download and run the app.
